Abstract
Abstract
This paper presents the general guidelines for the determination of the susceptibility of electrostatic components and equipment to electrostatic discharge, following a system level test that replicates an electrostatically charged person, this discharge to a system in an end user environment , this method is called the Human Body Model. The purpose of the system-level test is to ensure that the finished products can survive normal operation and it is generally assumed that the user of the product will not take any precautions to reduce possible electrostatic discharge and its effects. Data were taken from the most commonly used standards for describing test procedures, test levels and methods or ways of classifying them. It was concluded that the determination of the susceptibility to electrostatic discharges allows to provide data for an adequate possession of the manufacture, manipulation and use of products, a correct choice of them according to their destination and provides the data necessary for the implementation of protections before electrostatic discharge.
