In Colombia, the entity responsible for the review and control of intellectual property
is the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce, in charge of patents for invention; utility model
patents; industrial designs; and circuit diagrams of integrated circuits. The objective of this study
is to present the relevant information of the technological patents that are developed in the country
in the defense sector; by reviewing the databases of the website of the Superintendence of Industry
and Commerce. The information collected was analyzed statistically in order to identify the trends
in the sector and to have foundations to give a clear vision of the current situation of the Colombian
defense's technological state. It was concluded that Colombia is not a power in the sub-sectors of
nanosatellites and unmanned vehicles; However, the area of detection and deactivation of antipersonnel mines identifies an impulse probably explained by the need to respond to the threats of
this type imposed by groups outside the law that are part of the internal conflict of the nation.
