Abstract

Computational tools are becoming increasingly preponderant in industry.
Computational simulation is, among them, one of the most used. The construction of the conceptual
model is the first stage of a simulation project and is -at the same time- one of the most important
steps. In this work we present the key processes of simulation projects. Then, we focus on the IDEF-SIM technique for the construction of conceptual models. We use this technique for the
development of the conceptual model of the dispatch processes of a cement plant. The process of
creation of the conceptual model allowed us to identify input data requirements, while the process
flow map obtained served as the main input for the elaboration of the next step of the simulation
project
