INVENTORY MANAGEMENT IN THE COLOMBIAN HEALTH SYSTEM AFFECTED BY COVID-19

Currently due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Colombia, like most countries in the world,
faces a health situation of a state of alarm, since this virus has the capacity to cause hospitals to
reach their maximum capacity, due to its high probability of contagion; especially in countries with a low level of efficiency in the health system. Altering the quality, access and capacity of the same,
which alarmingly concerned the provision of ICUs (Intensive Care Unit) in Colombian hospitals.
Currently, those infected by coronavirus continue to grow in the country, which means that a
collapse can be caused in health centers, which complicates the management and control of the
available ICUs, as well as the management of inventories of artificial respirators. That said, the
proposed article aims to explain the importance of the implementation of an inventory model in
terms of the health equipment necessary to deal with the pandemic, since the lives of many people
can depend on these, which is an issue important for Colombia right now
